Sydney Hurley, a seventh-grader at Woodside Middle School, was named Miss Indiana Junior High Rodeo Princess on Aug. 15 at Bear Creek Farms near Bryant, about 20 miles south of Fort Wayne.

In 2004, Debra Evans of Fort Wayne was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. Right away, she and her husband, the Rev. James Evans, pastor of Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church, knew the prognosis was not good.
Fort Wayne Community Schools hosts back-to-school nights for parents. Some have already taken place or the time and date have yet to be determined. Here is the schedule for upcoming nights:

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne awarded a $15,000 grant — the second installment of a three-year grant — to the Northeast Indiana Chapter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry.
Lunches are served at all nutrition sites served by Aging and In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana Inc., and are available for delivery to homebound clients. Preregistration is required.

Q: I recently read an article that said adults need to earn the respect of children. That seems like one more “progressive” attempt to undermine parental authority. I believe children should respect adults no matter what. Don't you agree?
